Social science is a vast, diverse, and contested field, and it is changing rapidly with the growing use of AI and machine learning, with increasing collaboration with the natural sciences and humanities, and with growing concern to make social science research more equitable and inclusive.

The panel will bring together some of Oxford's leading thinkers to explore the future of social science, from a range of disciplinary perspectives. It will examine emerging trends and transformation in methods, theory, research impact, graduate training, and in relation to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Speakers:

  • Professor Nandini Gooptu – Professor of South Asian Studies
  • Dr Marnie Howlett – Lecturer in Russian and East European Politics
