The Lab’s 2025 Fellowship Cohort is officially underway, bringing together 100 Fellows from 48 nationalities, spanning 45 departments and 74 degree programmes across DPhil and master’s levels. These Fellows bring expertise from a range of disciplines, united by a shared commitment to tackling global challenges through collaboration, innovation, and leadership.

The Fellowship launched with an Induction Day at Garden House, where Fellows met their peers, engaged in interactive sessions, and explored the Lab’s mission to bridge academia and real-world impact. Professor Alexander Betts introduced the Lab’s approach to leadership and innovation, followed by an inspiring keynote from Baroness Jan Royall on the power of purpose-driven careers. Fellows participated in team-building exercises, case studies, and an in-depth session on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), preparing them for the months ahead.

Masterclass Series: What’s Ahead

With Induction Day complete, Fellows will now dive into the Masterclass Series, an eight-week programme designed to deepen their understanding of sustainability, ethics, and leadership. Rooted in three key themes—Ethics, Evidence, and Engagement—the series will feature expert-led workshops, discussions, and case studies on how to drive meaningful progress towards the SDGs.

Throughout the term, Fellows will engage with leaders from academia, industry, and policymaking, gaining cross-sector insights into climate action, social impact, and sustainable business. Those interested in real-world research projects will also have the opportunity to attend Explore Sessions, where they will learn about the Lab’s Partnership Projects and how they can apply their skills in collaboration with global organisations.
