The Oxford SDG Impact Lab partners with Oxfordshire County Council to bridge academic research and policymaking through the Local Policy Lab. This initiative connects Oxford graduate students with policymakers to tackle key local challenges, ensuring that policy decisions are rooted in data-driven insights and real-world evidence.
Fellows work closely with policy leads across Oxfordshire County and District Councils, conducting research on issues such as the early years of life, fair employment, public health and social care with the aim to reduce inequalities across Oxfordshire.
This collaboration supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Strengthening public health initiatives and support services.
SDG 4: Quality Education – Improving educational support structures and early childhood development.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Researching pathways for inclusive employment opportunities.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Ensuring policies address disparities in access to services and opportunities.
By applying research to practical policy solutions, this partnership strengthens local governance and helps create more equitable, sustainable, and inclusive communities across Oxfordshire.
